This workshop is unconventional in the sense that we do not stick to fixed
schedule and list of talks. The program is rather loose in order to
encourage spontaneously emerging contributions on a voluntary
basis. According to our plan we give only the basic structure/framework of
the program. There will be four main topics and each of them contains one
or two opening expository talks as given. In all sections impromptu contributions as well as pre-arranged talks are welcome.
The atmosphere of the meeting is intended to be informal, more of a
round table discussion than a formal sequence of hardly commented talks.
This unconventional way of organizing the program worked out extremely well
during the workshop on "Growth and Patterns" organized by Janos and Tamas
in 1988, i.e., more than 20 years ago. At that time, enthusiasm, the drive
to present latest results, led to a lively meeting based on a lot of
comments, improvised talks, and so on. We believe that all of you have much
to share with the other participants at this time as well, and expect
listening to your contributions emerging in a self-organized way due course
(naturally these are likely to be made on the basis of your already
prepared presentation files).
